Part-Time Computer Repair Technician (Independent Contractor)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Beernink Tech Services LLC is a local IT services company based in Oostburg, Wisconsin. We're looking for a reliable, customer-focused Computer Repair Technician to support our residential and small business clients as an independent contractor.

This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement — not a W-2 employee position. Work is project-based and as-needed.

JOB TYPE

Contract — Independent Contractor (1099), part-time project work

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Diagnose and repair Windows desktops and laptops

- Remove malware and improve system performance

- Install and configure computer hardware and software

- Troubleshoot printers, Wi-Fi networks, and internet connectivity issues

- Perform computer tune-ups, system upgrades, and data transfers

- Assist customers with email, cloud services, and general technology questions

- Complete on-site service visits for residential and small business clients at locations within about 30 miles of Oostburg, WI

- Take client devices home for bench work when a repair requires it, keeping devices and client data secure

- Document completed work in Jobber, and handle client communication through Jobber

- Maintain a professional appearance and manner on client visits

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- At least 2 years of computer repair experience

- Valid driver's license and a reliable personal vehicle (this role includes on-site client visits)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Technical coursework in computer repair or information technology

- CompTIA A+ certification (a plus, not required)

- Windows troubleshooting experience

- Hardware installation experience

- Malware removal experience

- Wi-Fi networking experience

- Printer support experience

- Data migration experience

- Strong customer service and technical communication skills

- Independent problem-solving skills

CONTRACT TERMS & COMPENSATION

Compensation is $18–$28 per hour, with the final rate thoughtfully determined based on each candidate's experience level, technical knowledge, and familiarity with the required systems. Drive time to and from client sites is paid at your hourly rate; there is no mileage reimbursement. Paid training is provided. The company provides specialized tools, software licenses, and supplies; you provide your own laptop and basic tools (listed above). After you successfully complete a 30-day evaluation period, the company will also provide a company-branded shirt for you to wear on client visits. As an independent contractor, you will receive a Form 1099, are responsible for your own taxes, and are not eligible for employee benefits.
