Compensation Range: $30.00 - $36.00 USD Hourly

The compensation above is the estimated hiring range for this position. Final offers are determined based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related considerations.

What You Will Be Doing

Under the supervision of the Director of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Prevention and Response/Title IX Coordinator, the Deputy Director & Lead Investigator will serve as the lead investigator on Title IX cases and cases arising under Moody's Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Response Policy; coordinate prevention and awareness education and training for students, faculty, and staff in the areas of sexual harassment, sexual violence, Title IX, and other Prohibited Conduct; and, if necessary due to inability or absence, fulfill designated duties and responsibilities of the Title IX Coordinator.

  • In conjunction with the Director/Title IX Coordinator, coordinates a prompt and effective institutional response to reports of sex-discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual violence in compliance with Title IX (34 C.F.R. Part 106). This response includes: referring for medical and mental health treatment; assisting student victims in reporting the offense to the police and informing them of how to pursue disciplinary action; assisting students with accessing academic support services, and supporting victims in addressing other needs
  • Functions as the lead investigator within a team of dedicated or volunteer investigators for the formal resolution process under Moody's Title IX Policy.
  • Conducts report intake meetings in partnership with the Title IX Administrator and/or Director/Title IX Coordinator.
  • Serves as a campus security authority, which means that in the event an individual reports a Clery Act crime, this role has a duty to immediately report it to campus police.
  • Upholds internal investigative procedures including maintaining electronic and paper documentation, creating investigative plans and adhering to investigative milestones; locating and preserving physical and electronic evidence; conducting investigative interviews; drafting investigative and other case reports; and preparing summary reports.
  • Manages the creation/procurement and delivery of ongoing education and prevention efforts for MBI faculty, staff, and students across all MBI campuses and online about issues related to sexual harassment, bystander intervention, and hazing prevention including response training that comply with federal and state requirements and align Moody's Biblical and doctrinal convictions.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Prevention and Response/Title IX Coordinator, identifies and implements appropriate initial and ongoing training for Title IX full time and volunteer personnel.
  • Attends ongoing training and certification courses in the areas of Title IX; trauma-informed investigations; sexual harassment investigations; legal and compliance requirements of federal and state law in the area of sexual harassment and sexual violence response; and promoting awareness and prevention on campus. These trainings may be local, online, or may require travel.
  • Processes relevant data in order to prepare reports, make presentations, or provide training related to the areas of federal and state law mandatory compliance.
  • Partner with key student and employee facing departments such as Residence Life, Student Care and Concern, Disability Services, Academic Records, Student Programs, Counseling, Faculty, Public Safety, and Human Resources to ensure appropriate training, support, remedies and sanctions.
  • Visit all of Moody's campuses to promote awareness, prevention, and training as well as to collaborate with key stakeholders in those locations.
  • Acts as the Title IX Coordinator to fulfill designated duties and responsibilities in situations where the Director of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Prevention and Response/Title IX Coordinator is unavailable, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to fulfill the job requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned, and not limited to responding to emails, calls, and other unexpected and unassigned internal and external requests for information, explanation, etc. Timely responses to critical incidents are an essential element of the job, as is thorough planning for coverage on the occasions of vacation/sick leave.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects with demanding timeframes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations calmly, ethically, effectively, efficiently, and consistently.
  • Ability to use discretion, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive matters.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Able to work in the US legally, without sponsorship

Preferred Requirements

  • Two years of experience or equivalent working with youth protection, and/or victims of sexual misconduct (including sexual harassment), domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking; experience gained during the completion of degree programs (graduate assistantships and internships) may be counted toward these requirements at a reduced rate.
  • Experience related to prevention, education, and program development and implementation.
  • Experience conducting criminal or administrative investigations in the areas of sexual harassment, sexual violence, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.

This is a part-time position that is regularly scheduled to work 28 hours a week from our downtown Chicago campus. The hours will normally fall between Monday and Friday.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely involves using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Moderate domestic travel and communication required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, and type. This position will frequently stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, finger or feel and reach with hands and arms.
