Job Description
Minimum Education:
- Master's degree in the content area or master's degree and 18 graduate credit hours in the content area
Preferred Education:
- Master's degree in Composition/Writing Instruction- Composition and Basic Writing
- Master's Degree in Secondary Education with a Reading Endorsement
Required Experience
- English Composition- 1-2 years of experience teaching first-year Composition
- Basic Writing- 2-3 years of experience teaching developmental writing
- College Reading and Study Skills- 2-3 years of experience teaching developmental reading and knowledge of reading theory.
Responsibilities
- Instruct courses aligned with departmental goals for first-year writing and/or developmental writing/reading.
- Develop syllabi, assignments, and rubrics that support student learning outcomes.
- Provide feedback on student assignments through written comments, conferences, and peer review sessions.
- Assess student performance using formative and summative evaluation methods.
- Integrate technology and digital literacy into writing instruction (e.g., using LMS platforms, online research tools).
- Hold regular office hours to support student learning and address individual concerns.
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
