Connected Health Care is partnering with a leading healthcare provider to recruit an experienced Part-Time Travel Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) for a 13-week contract opportunity in Independence MO. This position is an excellent opportunity for an efficient and experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant with a strong background in skilled home health who is seeking the flexibility of a part-time travel assignment.
Job Description
The Part-Time Travel Occupational Therapy Assistant will provide skilled occupational therapy services to patients in a home health setting, helping individuals improve independence, safety, mobility, and their ability to perform activities of daily living.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist*
- Deliver high-quality care to high-acuity skilled home health patients*
- Complete Start of Care (SOC) visits and other required patient evaluations and documentation*
- Perform and assist with OASIS assessments and documentation*
- Manage an assigned part-time patient caseload efficiently and effectively*
- Complete patient re-certifications and ongoing assessments as required*
- Assist with case management and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team*
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and functional goals*
- Provide interventions designed to improve functional mobility, activities of daily living, safety, and independence*
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, home safety, adaptive equipment, and strategies for maximizing independence*
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation*
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, caregivers, and other members of the care team*
- Follow all applicable home health, patient care, and regulatory standards*
- Demonstrate excellent time-management and organizational skills*
- Work independently while maintaining strong communication with the supervising Occupational Therapist and care team
Occupational Therapy Assistant Requirements
- Current Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA/COTA) license in Kansas or Missouri*
- Minimum of 1 year of skilled home health experience
- Must have experience treating high-acuity skilled home health patients
- Experience must be in skilled home health, not personal care or non-skilled home health*
- Experience with Start of Care (SOC) visits required*
- Experience with OASIS required*
- Previous experience with re-certifications required*
- Previous home health case management experience required*
- Strong clinical documentation and organizational skills*
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage a part-time patient caseload*
- Active driver's license required*
- Reliable, insured vehicle required*
- Ability to travel to patient homes throughout the assigned service area*
- MatrixCare EMR experience is a plus but is not required
