SALARY: $46.00 per class hour contracted

POSITION SUMMARY

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is an innovative leading-edge college dedicated to student success. Part-Time faculty are an integral part of the College's staff, helping us provide all learners with the highest quality learning opportunities when, where and how they want it.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction and assessment of learning outcomes.

  • Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom.

  • Maintain accurate student records and communication.

  • Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals. This includes being accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time.

  • Provide educational leadership and work effectively with faculty, administration, and campus support staff.

  • Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation.

  • Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery.

  • Additional duties and responsibilities will be discussed as needs arise.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in a wide variety of classes including introductory courses, teach beekeeping, cheesemaking, herbology, soils, livestock, crops, produce safety, food systems, meat cutting, farm tools and equipment, and farm business management.

  • Work with the College administration to meet institutional priorities, create a sustainable physical environment, and implement projects related to sustainability as requested. Develop organic gardens on campus; integrate them with campus food service and low-income food pantry.

  • Work collaboratively with other instructors and leaders in the college to evaluate existing programs, improve student learning and foster student success.

  • Work within the college to explore and develop grant related opportunities. Supply data and information needed to comply with grant obligations.

  • Build relationships with the farm and local food communities in the region as well as Statewide organizations and agencies that deal with agriculture.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Degree in Organic Agriculture Ed / Sustainable Food or a related field

Experience

  • Five years of direct occupational experience.

  • At a minimum, occupational experience has to have occurred at least 1 year within the last 5 years.

  • Experience in management of an organic or sustainable farm.

An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

Other Requirements

  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be insurable under the District's standard insurance policy terms.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • Entrepreneurship experience

  • Experience operating farm implements

  • Experience with local, state and federal agencies that deal with Organic agriculture, Land Conservation, and farming practices

  • Experience in Local Food Systems development and networking within the NE Wis Region

Certificate

  • Produce Safety and Permaculture Design certifications

  • Communication: Ability to effectively access, interpret, and exchange information with students, employees, and community members.
