  • Establish and maintain project control, benchmarks, and reference points, and verify control provided by others.

  • Manage and maintain accurate survey data, charts, plots, maps, and records, ensuring data is organized and accessible for VDC and project teams.

  • Perform calculations and verify the accuracy of field measurements for critical project components, including anchor bolts, sleeves, embeds, and equipment locations.

  • Conduct quality control checks of layouts and construction prepared by internal teams and other trades, identifying and communicating issues early.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies for personnel, vehicles, and equipment; model safe work practices for the crew.

  • Operate company vehicles and transport specialty equipment between job sites; coordinate equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Capture and report 360° jobsite progress photography and thermal imaging data for applicable projects and integrate this information into project documentation.

  • Collaborate closely with VDC Engineers, project managers, and superintendents to ensure alignment of field layout with design intent and resolve conflicts.

  • Participate in project coordination meetings as needed to represent the survey/layout function and provide field input.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS), Licensed Land Surveyor (LS), or Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) certifications preferred.

    • Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) or Land Surveyor Intern (LSI) for candidates on the licensure track is a plus as well.

  • 3+ years of experience in land or construction surveying, with at least 1–2 years in a lead, party chief, or crew chief role (electrical or general construction experience a plus).

  • Proficiency with surveying instruments (total stations, robotic total stations, GPS systems) and related data-collection software.

  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, models, and layout processes, including control, offsets, and as-built documentation.

  • Technologically savvy and eager to learn emerging tools and technologies, particularly those used in VDC workflows.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between job sites.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions (heat, cold, uneven terrain, active construction sites).

  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities, with the ability to interface professionally with field and office teams.

  • Preferred experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Trimble, or similar VDC and layout tools (Trimble Access, TBC, etc.).
