Position Summary

The Payroll Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing complex payroll accounting operations, reconciliations, accruals, financial reporting support, and compliance-related activities within a high-volume corporate environment. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of payroll-related financial data, supports internal and external reporting requirements, and maintains effective internal controls over payroll accounting processes.

The position plays a critical role in month-end and year-end close activities, audit support, tax and financial disclosure reporting, and reconciliation management. The Payroll Accounting Manager also provides leadership and operational guidance for payroll accounting functions requiring specialized technical expertise and strong analytical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee payroll accounting operations, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting support.

  • Prepare and review ICP accruals and related payroll accounting activities.

  • Manage payroll-related balance sheet reconciliations, including approximately 100 annual payroll reconciliations and recurring monthly reconciliations.

  • Oversee manual accounting processes for INCA actuals and accruals and suspense account reconciliations.

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of payroll accounting close activities in accordance with corporate deadlines.

  • Support tax reporting requirements and respond to tax and financial disclosure requests.

  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, Tax, Internal Audit, and external auditors to support reporting and compliance initiatives.

  • Analyze reconciliation variances, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

  • Develop, document, and improve payroll accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.

  • Assist with system implementations, process automation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Provide guidance, training, and operational support to team members within payroll accounting functions.

  • Ensure proper segregation of duties and adherence to internal control standards.

  • Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis requests as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll accounting, financial accounting, or related corporate accounting functions.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll accounting, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.

  • Experience managing high-volume reconciliations and complex accounting activities.

  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal control requirements.

  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multinational or large corporate payroll environments.

  • Experience with payroll systems, financial reporting systems, and process improvement initiatives.

The base salary range for this position is $116,000 - $134,500 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
