Job Description

MUST have experience using TriNet to run full cycle payroll.

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Payroll Advisor to support the accurate and timely processing of US payrolls. This role ensures the payroll team meets agreed SLAs and delivers on the annual payroll calendar. Operating as the "go-to specialist" for assigned payrolls, the ideal candidate possesses a "sleeves rolled up" attitude and a proven track record of improving operational standards and processes.

This role is pivotal to supporting the US new starter experience—including onboarding, payroll processing, answering inquiries, and liaising with the local payroll bureau. While the position is primarily remote, occasional travel and on-site presence across various provinces will be required.

Key Accountabilities

  • Process Excellence: Ensure the US payroll function is "best in class," maintaining robust processes and a strong control environment.

  • Vendor Management: Manage external payroll relationships, continually monitor service quality, and maintain a strong relationship with the payroll provider to resolve issues efficiently.

  • Stakeholder Support: Directly manage the accurate and timely processing of employee salaries and benefits, providing consistent, cost-effective, and timely service to internal colleagues.

  • Inquiry Resolution: Respond to internal and external questions and queries in a timely, customer-focused manner.

  • Compliance & Audits: Ensure compliance with the latest legislative requirements and liaise with relevant tax authorities and government institutions. Assist with final year-end reports and support internal, external, and SOC audit controls.

  • Project & Change Leadership: Act as the lead contact for payroll-impacted projects and audits, offering expert advice on US payroll processing and legislation (including offshore legislation) while guiding the team through periods of change.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience: 5+ years of full-cycle US payroll processing experience covering all facets of the payroll process. Highly experienced in US payroll with deep knowledge of US federal and state taxation and legislation.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration), related educational experience, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Certification: Current Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification from the American Payroll Association is required.

  • Systems: Proven experience processing payroll via TriNet.

  • Benefits Admin: Experience working directly with benefit providers to ensure all taxable benefit inputs are precise.

Core Competencies:

  • Strategic & Compliant: A strategic thinker capable of assisting in the creation of payroll-compliant policies and procedures.

  • Communication: Outstanding written and interpersonal skills; ability to draft or amend contracts and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Organization: Highly organized with a natural ability to prioritize, meet tight deadlines, and master complex procedures.

  • Working Style: Self-motivating, proactive, and passionate. Able to take direction and collaborate effectively within a team environment while executing tasks on own initiative.

  • Integrity: Must maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.

Our Client's Culture & Values

At our client's organization, everything is driven by a commitment to offering the very best to customers—the best service, the best quality, and the ultimate customer experience. Their core values act as a DNA guide for how employees behave, work together, and make a real, positive impact on corporate success.
