Job Description

Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group has partnered with a leading academic research institution to hire a Payroll Analyst.  As the Payroll Analyst, you will be responsible for payroll processing activities and review, payroll audit and reconciliation support, regulatory compliance application, and reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of payroll experience to include working in a large organization with complex payroll as well as experience working in Workday.  If you’re looking for your next opportunity, apply now!

Responsibilities:
  • Process regular, off-cycle, bonus, and multi-state payrolls, ensuring complete accuracy and strict policy compliance prior to submission.
  • Act as the primary contact for routine payroll inquiries from employees, HR, and managers, while collaborating with external vendors to resolve standard processing issues.
  • Perform regular reconciliations across payroll systems, general ledgers, and vendors; assist with internal/external audits and year-end W-2 preparation.
  • Apply federal, state, and local wage-and-hour laws, tax requirements, and garnishment rules while monitoring regulatory updates for potential impacts.
  • Prepare recurring and ad-hoc payroll reports for HR and Finance, analyzing data trends and variances to support continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications/Background Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive payroll processing experience in a large organization with complex payroll
  • Experience working in Workday and MS Office.
  • Working knowledge of payroll legislation, wage-and-hour rules, and pay cycle execution.

This job is Hybrid Remote.

Pay Range: Salary $65,000.00 to $85,000.00
