Job Description
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for accurately processing employee payroll, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations. This role works closely with HR and Finance to support employees, resolve payroll issues, and ensure timely and accurate compensation.
Responsibilities include:
•Process biweekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees
•Collect, review, and verify timekeeping, attendance, and payroll data
•Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and deductions
•Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations
•Review payroll tax filings and support year-end processes (W-2s, audits, etc.)
•Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
•Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality
•Coordinate with HR on benefits deductions, garnishments, and leave tracking
•Assist with payroll system updates, testing, and process improvements
Job Summary and Qualifications
•Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
•2+ years of payroll processing experience
•Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
•Experience with payroll software
•Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
•Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
•Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification preferred
•Strong organizational and time-management skills
•Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
•HR/Employee Benefits experience a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Day-to-day work includes desk and personal computer work and interaction with staff.
•The physical demands and work environmental characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
•Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
