Payroll Specialist

Payrate: $33.00 - $33.00/hr.Summary:The main function of this role is to assist in payroll accounting and reporting, including stop payments and transactions. The role involves ensuring payroll processing is compliant with all Federal and State Laws.Responsibilities:

• Fulfill day-to-day functions of the payroll service team, including Kronos timecard maintenance, Workday HRIS data integrity, and accurate payroll process management via UltiPro.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations in processing procedures.
• Manage relationships within defined SLAs while providing research, resolution, product support, and superior customer experience to various stakeholders.
• Act as the Level 2 Customer Experience team for payroll-related inquiries submitted via various channels.
• Evaluate processes and procedural documents for increased efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Manage leaves of absence and calculation of supplemental benefit payments.
• Support recurring and ad hoc reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support various project initiatives, including collection of user requirements for system enhancements and solutions.
• Conduct periodic and cumulative audit processes for monthly, quarterly, and annual activities.
• Prepare and submit paper payroll checks for employees without direct deposit.
• Collect banking information for direct deposit setup and initiate deposits on paydays.
• Familiarize with and keep current on the taxation of salaries, benefits, and other factors.
• Process and monitor garnishment orders and other payroll specifications issues.
• Maintain and document all payroll records.
• Conduct semi-annual audits of all payroll records.
• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
• Reconcile general ledger regarding payroll transactions.
• Detect and process issues related to uncollected payroll.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.

Qualifications:

• 3 years of US & CAN work experience in a payroll role, preferably in a 3rd party payroll or shared service environment.
• 2 years in a customer service-related field with strong customer relationship skills.
• Experience with top-tier payroll and HRIS systems such as UKGPro (UltiPro), UKG WFC (Kronos), UKG WFD (Dimensions), Workday, or similar.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve requests using pre-defined and creative solutions.
• Expert interpretation, creation, and presentation of instructions in various forms.
• Ability to produce measurable results in a collaborative team environment and independently manage time and priorities.
• Payroll audit, control, quality assurance, and/or tax management experience.
• Payroll accounting experience, including GL posting, accruals, and reconciliation of payroll expenses.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Skills:

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organization and mathematical skills.
• Familiarity with Windows-based computer programs.
• APA Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designations preferred.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $33.00 - $33.00 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience.
