Job Description
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing and processing payroll operations while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This role will support payroll-related reporting, maintain employee payroll records, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve payroll inquiries and ensure smooth payroll processes. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with a strong understanding of payroll systems and compliance requirements. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, provide clear communication, and support overall business operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance and Operations.Responsibilities:
- Lead the processing of scheduled payrolls for assigned companies, ensuring precision and compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local laws.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local tax and wage & hour regulations, including payroll tax registrations.
- Analyze complex payroll issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Exercise independent judgment on matters related to compliance, compensation, taxation, and HR policies.
- Conduct post-payroll audits, generate reports, and recommend best practice improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay up-to-date on payroll procedures and policies, implementing changes to improve departmental effectiveness.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience, preferably in a customer-facing role.
- Strong work ethic with a focus on reliability, responsibility, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing needs.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in Google Suite applications.
- Excellent data entry and typing skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
