Job Description

About Jerritt Canyon

The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.

The Opportunity

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll for Jerritt Canyon employees, ensuring adherence to Company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role serves as a subject matter expert for payroll processes and provides critical support during periods of organizational change. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced, and able to work independently while partnering closely with Human Resources, Finance, and corporate teams.

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, including pay discrepancies, deductions, and timekeeping issues.
  • Partner with Human Resources on new hires, terminations, employee status changes, and leave administration to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Coordinate with Finance and corporate payroll teams on reconciliations, reporting, and payroll-related accounting activities.
  • Administer payroll adjustments, retroactive pay, bonuses, and special payments as required.
  • Support timekeeping systems and ensure accurate review and approval of employee time records.
  • Prepare and support payroll reports, audits, and internal controls as required.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reconciliations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of the role.
  • Demonstrate alignment with First Majestic's values and organizational behaviors in all interactions and work activities.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures, including safety, environmental, and code of conduct requirements.
  • Perform work safely and complete other related duties as assigned.

The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of payroll experience with demonstrated ability to manage complex payroll requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems; experience with enterprise systems (SAP or similar) preferred.
  • Proven experience managing payroll audits, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
