Job Description
VENTEON and Harvard Resource Solutions are hiring a talented PAYROLL SPECIALIST to work in Southfield, MI for a national organization. You will work on a team supporting payroll related tasks and processing a high volume of paychecks.
POSITION TYPE: Full time, direct hire position. Hybrid work environment (3 days per week in office after training) PAY: $70,000 to $80,000 annually plus paid time off and benefits package
Requirements of the Payroll Specialist:
A college degree is preferred but not required. Will accept equivalent work experience.
Seeking 4 or more years of work experience processing full cycle, high volume, multi state payroll for at least 500-1,000 employees.
Skills processing in-house payroll are a major plus.
Experience processing time and attendance, calculating PTO, applying bouses, special pays, reimbursements, loans, garnishments, and deductions.
Knowledgeable in payroll tax laws.
Detail oriented individual with good communication skills.
MS Office software including strong Excel skills. Technical skills with payroll software systems (SAP is a major plus!) and working in HRIS systems to enter and manage employee data. Person savvy with computers and able to learn new systems.
Duties of the Payroll Specialist:
- Set up and manage employee related information in HRIS and payroll systems.
- Work on a payroll team that processes payroll for over 3,500 team members on a bi-weekly basis.
- Support time and attendance processing by encouraging timely submission by team members and assisting with managers approvals.
- Coordinates payment of bonuses, commissions, and any other special payments or payroll processes.
- Coordinate payment of payroll related deductions including 401k contributions, Friend of the Court, garnishments, etc.
- Generate payroll reports. Distribute them timely to the correct departments and / or locations.
- Provide support for payroll and employment requests as needed, including completing verifications of employment.
- In partnership with management to provide data needed to set up and investigate payroll tax filings.
- Analyze current payroll processes and make suggestions to improve efficiency.
- Ensures payroll process adheres to strict auditing process, following SOX requirements.
- Responds to management reporting/research requests; creates special reports as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
