Job Overview
The US Payroll Operations Supervisor leads the team responsible for daily payroll execution and employee payroll actions in partnership with Hubbell’s managed services providers. This role supervises Payroll Operations and Employee Service Specialists and serves as the primary escalation point for payroll-related issues. The supervisor ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for a large, multi-state workforce.
Key Accountabilities
Supervise a team of 4 payroll professionals plus temporary staff as needed
Allocate work, provide training, and resolve incidents within payroll operations
Review and approve payroll-related actions while maintaining segregation of duties and internal controls
Manage day-to-day vendor relationships with ADP and Ceridian
Serve as liaison between Payroll and HR, Benefits, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, and Finance
Assist with testing payroll and time system functionality, policies, and procedures
Analyze ServiceNow and ADP CRM tickets to identify trends and process improvements
Provide Tier 2 escalation support for complex payroll issues
Lead quarter-end and year-end payroll activities including balancing, corrective entries, W2 reconciliation, and W2c processing
Ensure SOX compliance and support audit requirements
Prepare and maintain Payroll Operations documentation and procedures
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of multi-state, multi-entity, high-volume payroll processing experience (7,000+ employees)
3+ years of Payroll Team supervisor/leadership experience required
Experience with ADP GlobalView, Ceridian Dayforce, and SuccessFactors HR preferred
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
Additional Skills
Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
Strong time management and prioritization skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Understanding of full payroll processing cycle including quarter and year-end requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of confidentiality and integrity
Ability to manage cross-functional relationships
Ability to adapt to vendor, system, and policy changes
Willingness to work flexible hours to meet payroll deadlines
