PCU Float Registered Nurse

Our facility is looking for a skilled PCU Float RN to provide top-quality patient care across various medical units. This pivotal role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment, float between units and campuses, and enhance your clinical expertise while making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.Key Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional nursing care in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and other units as assigned, including float to various specialties such as step-down and other patient care areas.
• Adaptability to work across multiple campuses (Ross Heart, Brain & Spine, Dodd) as needed.
• Manage patient ratios of approximately 1:3-4 while maintaining high standards of safety and care quality.
• Utilize IV skills, Telemetry monitoring, and Epic electronic health record system efficiently.
• Respond swiftly to patient needs, ensuring optimal health outcomes.

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience, preferably in acute care settings.
• Valid RN license and current BLS/ACLS certifications.
• Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and Epic documentation.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience working in a hospital float pool or multiple units.
• Prior experience with institution-specific protocols or additional certifications.
• Ability to efficiently float across various patient acuity levels and units.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Prior experience in PCU, step-down units, or similar fast-paced environments.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work the night shift (19:00 - 07:30) for 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts.
• Must possess and maintain all required licensure, certifications, and credentials.
• Flexibility to float across multiple campuses and units as needed.
• Willingness to adhere to facility policies and participate in ongoing training.
