Pediatric DentistWarm Valley Health Care (WVHC) is seeking a Pediatric Dentist to join our Dental Department and serve as our pediatric dental specialist. This position provides comprehensive and advanced dental care to infants, children, and adolescents, including patients with behavioral, developmental, communication, anxiety, or other patient-management needs.The Pediatric Dentist will provide clinical care in WVHC dental clinics and, as applicable, hospital and community settings. This role also supports the continued development of WVHC's pediatric dental services through consultation, mentorship, staff education, outreach, and collaboration with community partners.What You'll DoDiagnose, treatment plan, and independently provide comprehensive pediatric dental care, including routine, complex, and unusual cases.Provide restorative, pulpal, endodontic, crown, extraction, and other pediatric dental procedures.Treat dental caries, including early childhood caries, and conditions affecting developing dentition.Provide space maintenance and interceptive orthodontic services when indicated.Evaluate and manage developmentally complicated teeth and related conditions within scope of practice.Provide care for children with behavioral, developmental, communication, anxiety, or other patient-management challenges.Administer local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and other sedation services consistent with applicable laws, WVHC policies, credentials, and scope of practice.Provide hospital-based dental care under general anesthesia when appropriately credentialed and privileged.Educate children and families regarding oral hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, dental development, trauma prevention, and long-term oral health.Communicate diagnoses and treatment options in an age- and developmentally appropriate manner.Collaborate with parents and guardians to establish realistic treatment goals and promote positive dental experiences.Serve as a pediatric dental consultant for complex cases and provide clinical guidance to dental and healthcare staff.Provide mentorship, training, and education to dental staff, healthcare professionals, community partners, and other stakeholders.Support the development and continuous improvement of WVHC's comprehensive pediatric dental program.Collaborate with schools, Head Start/Early Head Start, Tribal organizations, Indian Health Service personnel, and community partners to expand pediatric oral health services and reduce barriers to care.Participate in quality improvement activities, chart and case reviews, continuing education, and professional development.Maintain accurate clinical documentation and protect the confidentiality and security of patient information.What We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsDDS or DMD degree from an ADA-accredited dental school.Completion of an ADA-accredited Pediatric Dentistry residency program.Current state license to practice dentistry.Advanced knowledge and clinical judgment in Pediatric Dentistry, with the ability to independently diagnose and treat complex pediatric dental conditions.Knowledge of pediatric growth and development, eruption patterns, primary and permanent dentition, and related treatment considerations.Demonstrated ability to manage patients with behavioral, communication, developmental, anxiety-related, and other patient-management challenges.Knowledge of local anesthetics, sedation techniques, pharmaceuticals, and related safety considerations.Proficiency in routine and complex dental procedures applicable to pediatric patients.Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively with patients across a wide range of cooperation levels.Licensure & Employment RequirementsEmployment is contingent upon meeting all applicable licensing, credentialing, background, and suitability requirements. The successful candidate must:Maintain an active state dental license and required professional credentials.Maintain appropriate hospital and WVHC clinical privileges when required.Complete required pre-employment and random drug testing and background investigation.Maintain required continuing education and professional competency.Maintain a valid state driver's license when required to operate a government-owned, leased, or WVHC vehicle in the performance of assigned duties.Work EnvironmentThe primary patient population consists of children and adolescents in primary and mixed dentition. The Pediatric Dentist may also provide services to teen, adult, and geriatric patients when appropriate or in collaboration with the Dental Director.Work may occur in dental clinics, hospitals, and approved community settings.
