Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse
Shift Time: 7p-7a
Estimated Pay Package: $2000 (stipend included)
Job Description:
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse plays a critical role in the care and recovery of children facing life-threatening conditions. This position requires a compassionate and skilled nursing professional who can provide comprehensive nursing care, closely monitor patients, and work in collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The PICU RN contributes to a dynamic and fast-paced environment, ensuring that each child receives exceptional medical attention during their most vulnerable moments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess the health status of pediatric patients in critical condition.
- Administer medications, treatments, and IV infusions as ordered by physicians.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Educate and support families about medical procedures, treatment plans, and at-home care.
- Document patient interactions and care activities accurately in electronic health records.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies and provide life-saving interventions as required.
- Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric Intensive Care or a similar critical care environment.
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to make rapid decisions during emergencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-pressure healthcare environment.
