Job Summary:

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Peer Support Specialist for our KORE Baby Steps Program, based out of the Journey to Recovery Center in Covington, KY.

Shift/Hours: Full-Time - 40 hours/week, 1st Shift

Job Description:

The Peer Support Specialist uses their personal recovery experience to develop a trusting mentor relationship with patients and uses their own successful recovery as an example of what the patient can achieve in recovery.

Duties include:

  • Face to face client interaction for scheduled meetings, office visits, hospital inpatient visits, residential home visits, off-site 12 step meetings, detox support.

  • Accompanies patient to court, addiction related meetings and other appointments, facilitates or monitors group therapy meetings as assigned.

  • After hours work with clients- calls, meetings, treatment and detox support.

  • Maintains regular community partner involvement, including professional work team meetings.

  • Enters data base information for the healthcare system and the state.

  • Restocks client closet, diaper/formula bank, and all recovery related supplies on a regular basis.

Qualifications

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • MUST have personal ongoing recovery from substance abuse with > 1 year of sobriety

  • MUST complete 30 hours of state training and pass requirements to be certified as a State Certified Peer Support Specialist in the state where work is being performed

  • Must be considered acceptable as a routine driver by healthcare system's business auto insurance carrier.

  • Complete 6 hours of continuing education each year

NOTE: Must meet requirements below: (within 6 months of employment)

  • Must have a legal and valid driver's license

  • Must pass a criminal background check

  • Must pass MVR check

  • Must be insurable

Kind and Length of Experience:

  • Experience with some type of recovery program such as Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous.
