Job Description

Pennwood Cyber Charter School is a tuition-free, K-12 public cyber charter school serving students across Pennsylvania. Pennwood provides flexible virtual learning supported by a proven curriculum, individualized student support, and innovative educational opportunities designed to promote academic achievement, engagement, and long-term student success.

Pennwood operates on a unique school calendar that includes a three-week Connections Term (C-Term), extending the school year to 195 instructional days. The Connections Term provides additional opportunities for intervention support, enrichment experiences, relationship-building, career readiness exploration, and personalized student learning.

Position Summary

Pennwood Cyber Charter School is seeking a licensed School Psychologist to provide comprehensive school psychological services to students in a fully remote learning environment. This position supports students' academic success, social-emotional development, and behavioral well-being through assessment, consultation, data-based decision-making, and collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

The School Psychologist ensures full compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) special education regulations, participates actively in evaluation and IEP processes, and serves as a key mental health and instructional resource for staff and families. While the role is fully remote, limited in-state travel is required for student testing, school events, and meetings as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the special education evaluation and reevaluation process from referral through eligibility determination in accordance with PDE requirements
  • Review psychoeducational evaluation and reevaluation reports completed by contracted psychologists and ensure compliance with state regulations and timelines
  • Conduct psychoeducational assessments as needed, including selection of appropriate instruments, test administration, observations, data analysis, and report writing
  • Present evaluation results to families and IEP teams; clearly explain findings, eligibility determinations, and educational implications
  • Provide guidance regarding appropriate assessment batteries for initial evaluations and reevaluations
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings, Evaluation Services Team meetings, and multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Collaborate with special education staff, administrators, related service providers, and contracted professionals to support student needs
  • Assist with identification, placement, and programming for students with disabilities and other exceptional learners
  • Serve as a consultant and resource on child development, mental health, learning differences, and behavioral supports
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress, interventions, and strategies for home and school environments
  • Provide individual and group counseling or behavioral supports when appropriate
  • Provide professional development and training for school staff and families related to assessment, mental health, behavior, and student support strategies
  • Promote family engagement and maintain effective, consistent communication with parents and caregivers
  • Maintain accurate student records, reports, and data to document progress and service effectiveness
  • Ensure all services, documentation, and timelines comply with PDE regulations, ethical standards, and school policies
  • Submit reports and required documentation promptly and efficiently
  • Remain current on best practices, research, and developments in school psychology through ongoing professional learning
  • Select and requisition appropriate assessment tools and materials and maintain inventory as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or school leadership

Required Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree or higher in School Psychology from an accredited institution
  • Valid School Psychologist Certificate issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a school setting (internship/practicum excluded)
  • Experience participating in IEP meetings and completing psychoeducational evaluations and eligibility determinations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a public school or cyber charter school environment
  • Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential
  • Experience collaborating with contracted service providers
  • Experience providing services in a virtual or remote setting
