About the position

As the People and Talent Associate, you will support Ember's continued growth and impact by helping to recruit, hire, and onboard talent, and run key people operations that keep our clinics and teams running smoothly. This is a generalist role with a strong hiring component, that reports directly to the Senior Director of People and Talent (SDPT).

The most significant portion of your time will be spent recruiting staff and setting them up for success in their new roles. This will include reviewing applications, screening candidates, managing talent pipelines, and setting up comprehensive, well supported onboarding plans. You'll also have the opportunity to build relationships with promising candidates and training programs, and nurture a pipeline of talent over time.

Additionally, you will help support employees across key moments in their time at Ember. This includes managing people transitions, ongoing learning and development opportunities, credentialing, and offboarding. You'll address regular human resources questions with professionalism and compassion, and ensure people-related priorities advance thoughtfully.

This role is well suited for someone who loves building trusting relationships, is motivated by all things "people", and is excited to support a team advancing some of the most exciting work in mental health. You are highly motivated, driven, and organized, and are ready to channel your professional energy into a role that will evolve to meet the needs of a dynamic organization.

Responsibilities

Hiring & Talent Support

  • Lead hiring processes for non-senior roles for clinic and central teams
  • Review applications and conduct initial candidate screens using structured and behavioral interviewing guidelines
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate communications, and scheduling to keep hiring processes moving smoothly
  • Manage candidate pipelines and talent pools, supporting outreach, follow-ups, and relationship tracking
  • Use Ember’s recruiting systems and tools (including Greenhouse, LinkedIn, and Airtable) to track candidates, manage data, and support organized workflows
  • Serve as a professional, welcoming point of contact for candidates, helping ensure a positive and high-quality candidate experience

People Operations & Workforce Readiness

  • Support core people operations activities, including:
    • Onboarding and offboarding
    • Role changes and internal transitions
    • Employment status updates and people data maintenance
  • Assist with credentialing and hiring readiness for clinical staff.
  • Partner with clinic and operations leaders to help ensure teams are properly staffed, supported, and prepared.
  • Maintain and strengthen our training resources database, ensuring training content is up to date and comprehensive

Attributes

  • You are relational and credible. You build trust with candidates and teammates and communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • You are organized and dependable. You follow through on tasks, manage details carefully, and can be relied on by your team.
  • You are a thoughtful dot connector. You notice relevant information and help connect people and context to improve outcomes.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity. You don’t need a fully defined playbook to get started and can make progress as things evolve.
  • You are curious and eager to learn. You ask questions, seek feedback, and are motivated to grow your skills over time.
  • You are mission driven. You are motivated by Ember’s work and take pride in contributing to high-quality, compassionate care.

Experience

  • Prior experience supporting recruiting or talent processes required (e.g., application review, screening, coordination, sourcing, or agency recruiting)
  • Additional experience in people operations, HR, or a related generalist role preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, specialized role types, or mission-driven organizations a plus
  • Comfort learning and using people systems and tools to stay organized and support efficient workflows (we currently use Greenhouse, Airtable, and Justworks)

Why the Role is Compelling

The People and Talent Associate plays a meaningful role in building Ember’s team and supporting the people who deliver care and run the organization every day. You’ll gain hands-on experience across recruiting and people operations, work closely with clinic and central teams, and develop a broad understanding of how a mission-driven healthcare organization grows. This role offers learning, variety, mentorship, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact while building strong foundational people and talent skills.

Compensation Package and Benefits

Starting base salary will be $80,000-$90,000 commensurate with experience. In addition to salary, Ember Health provides all full-time employees with guaranteed 401K contributions and bonus 401K contributions based on enterprise performance (totaling 3%–10% of annual salary).

All full-time employees are eligible for healthcare benefits (including vision and dental), 18 days of paid vacation (with tenure-based annual increases), 7 paid holidays, dedicated sick time, and additional benefits to support personal wellbeing.

This is a full-time opportunity based out of our headquarters in Brooklyn Heights, NYC, with travel to clinics and events as needed, and the opportunity for a flexible, hybrid workplace model.
