Title: Perm- Physician- Surgery- General Brattleboro, VTDescription: Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Medical Group is seeking a full-time Board Certified or Board Eligible MD/DO General Surgeon to join its collaborative surgical team in Brattleboro, Vermont, providing comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and wound care services in a supportive community hospital setting.Job Description:
The General Surgeon will:
- Provide comprehensive surgical care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings
- Perform common general surgical procedures including:
- Hernia repair
- Cholecystectomy
- Endoscopy
- Appendectomy
- Management of small bowel obstruction
- Colorectal surgery
- Skin and soft tissue surgical procedures
- Deliver evaluation and management of acute and chronic wounds within the multidisciplinary Wound Clinic model
- Provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of surgical conditions
- Exercise advanced operative skills and strong clinical judgment
- Collaborate closely with:
- Anesthesiologists
- CRNAs
- Physician Assistants
- Perioperative and peri-anesthesia teams
- Emergency Department clinicians
- Hospitalists
- Wound Clinic team
- Educate patients and families regarding:
- Surgical procedures
- Risks and benefits
- Post-operative care plans
- Review diagnostic test results and address abnormalities
- Offer surgical input for:
- Palliative care
- Pain management
- End-of-life decision support
- Participate in departmental meetings
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training activities
- Maintain compliance with OSHA Category I standards (bloodborne pathogen precautions)
- Not open to candidates who commute more than 1 hour

- Not open to candidates who plan to work this job in conjunction with another position
- Base Salary: annually
- Determined based on experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness
- Additional productivity-based monetary incentives
- Compensation structured in compliance with Vermont Act 155
