Job Title: Director of Nursing (DON) DaysLocation: St. Ignace, MI (service at Evergreen Living Center)Employment Type: Permanent, Full-TimeStarting Salary: Up to $90,000 annually (dependent on experience)Schedule: Days shiftOverview: Evergreen Living Center, a 48-bed skilled nursing facility and part of the hospital campus in St. Ignace, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead its nursing services. Recognized as an Eden Alternative Certified Community and a CMS 5-Star Rated Facility, we provide a comprehensive range of services including skilled and basic care, long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, hospice support, restorative care, and social services.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all nursing services to deliver high-quality, compassionate resident care.
- Ensure clinical assessments, individualized care planning, and ongoing evaluation of resident outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nurse managers.
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations of nursing personnel.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment emphasizing professionalism and continuous improvement.
- Manage staffing and resource allocation optimally to meet resident needs while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular audits and prepare for inspections to ensure adherence to CMS, state, and local regulations.
- Develop, implement, and review organizational policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs, including QAPI initiatives.
- Stay current with advancements in long-term care nursing practices and infection control protocols.
- Promote resident safety, quality of life, and risk management through effective programs and staff education.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Extensive experience in long-term care or skilled nursing settings, with prior leadership roles.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations (e.g., CMS standards).
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
