Personal Care Assistant- Northern Education Center

Location: Jonestown, PA Salary: $21.49 USD Hourly - $23.00 USD Hourly Description: Position: Special Education Support Staff Overview: Provide academic and behavioral support to students with special needs. Assist in implementing individualized educational programs as directed by the case manager or behaviorist. Responsibilities include supporting instruction, meeting personal care needs, and monitoring health conditions for students with disabilities. Key Responsibilities: Deliver instruction to individuals or small groups in areas such as cognitive development, motor skills, feeding, self-help, and behavior management, as directed by the teacher. Ensure the health and safety of students with physical disabilities by maintaining awareness of environmental hazards. Assist with personal hygiene tasks, including handwashing, toileting, diaper changes, and clothing changes. Monitor and manage student behavior in line with established guidelines. Support specialists with physical development activities. Prepare students for participation in mainstream classes following established procedures. Attend required training and in-service sessions related to medical interventions and instructional programs. Assist students with orthopedic equipment, including lifting, positioning, and repositioning as needed. Maintain accurate records of student progress. Implement positive behavior intervention and support strategies. Collaborate with case managers, general education teachers, and other staff. Facilitate social interactions among students. Work independently and cooperatively with team members. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements: Experience working with children with special needs preferred. Ability to assist with feeding, toileting, positioning, and monitoring health conditions. Must have all clearances within the past year (Child Abuse Training valid for 5 years). TB Test within the past 90 days.
