This position will work across DEC/DEP territories. The person in this position must be flexible to Duke Energy Carolinas as whole.

Job Summary

The PGO Field Coordinator supports the Carolinas Distribution Vegetation Management Hazard Tree (HT) Program by coordinating year-round hazard tree identification, environmental review, field readiness, and execution activities. This role serves as a central coordination point between field operations, Environmental, Engineering, Work Management, and Contractors to ensure hazard tree mitigation work is executed safely, compliantly, and efficiently. The position ensures continuity, visibility, and operational alignment of the Hazard Tree Program across the Carolinas.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate intake, tracking, and validation of Hazard Tree findings from Level 1 assessments, Level 2 assessments, Fire Tree identification, and reactive field discoveries.

  • Support environmental review workflows for Hazard Tree work orders, including routing, documentation, and readiness validation.

  • Partner with Work Management and field supervision to ensure permits, access, materials, data quality, and prerequisites are in place prior to execution.

  • Coordinate with Vegetation Management Program Managers (VMPMs), contractors, and field supervisors to align scheduling and execution priorities.

  • Track Hazard Tree work orders across O&M and Capital programs and support weekly, monthly, and leadership reporting.

  • Ensure accurate closeout documentation for Hazard Tree work orders, including system records, environmental documentation, and audit readiness materials.

  • Identify workflow gaps, recurring delays, or data issues and elevate risks to leadership with recommended mitigation actions.

  • Support storm response and restoration activities as required, serving as a field coordination resource during emergent conditions.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with Environmental, Engineering, Work Management, Finance, and Operations partners.

  • Support process improvements related to Hazard Tree intake, environmental coordination, and execution efficiency.

  • Participate in pre-construction and operational planning meetings as the Hazard Tree coordination subject matter resource.

  • Provide field feedback to leadership to improve safety, quality, and program effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree or Technical Degree.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in vegetation management, utility operations, field coordination, or program support.

  • In Lieu of Degree High School/GED and 7 years' experience

  • Working knowledge of work order management systems and field execution workflows.

  • Strong coordination, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a high-volume, year-round operational environment.

  • Bachelor's Degree 7 years' related experience

  • Experience supporting vegetation management or hazard mitigation programs.

  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and compliance coordination.

  • ISA Certified Arborist, Utility Specialist, or Registered Professional Forester. And Pesticide License.

  • Experience working with contractors and field crews in a utility environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate operational data.

Working Conditions

This position requires regular interaction with field operations and may involve travel within the Carolinas region. Occasional after-hours support may be required to support operational priorities or storm response.
