Job Description

Role Purpose

This role exists to hardwire deep pharma business context into Data & AI solutions.

The Pharma Domain & Business Solutions Leader will serve as the business conscience and narrative architect of the Client Solution Studio—ensuring that every data platform, AI model, and horizontal capability is grounded in real-world pharma workflows, decisions, and outcomes.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The individual is expected to shape solution vision, actively co-create offerings with data science and engineering teams, influence revenue, and remain personally billable through domain advisory, solution architect, or delivery leadership roles.

In short: elevate the business relevance of our Data & AI solutions—and the teams that build them.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business & Domain Leadership

  • Bring deep expertise across one or more pharma functional areas such as: managed markets / market access, patient services & hub operations, commercial operations & sales effectiveness, medical affairs, vaccines, omnichannel & customer engagement, etc.
  • Anchor Data & AI solution design in end-to-end business workflows, decisions, and KPIs.
  • Ensure solutions are designed with a clear understanding of upstream data sources and downstream business consumption.

2. Solution Shaping & Offering Development

  • Work closely with data science, engineering, and platform teams to:
    • Translate horizontal capabilities (AI, GenAI, analytics platforms) into business-specific solution offerings.
    • Define use cases, business logic, success metrics, and adoption pathways.
  • Play a hands-on role in solution architecture, feature definition, and prioritization.
  • Ensure offerings are pragmatic, scalable, and monetizable—not academic.

3. Client Engagement & Revenue Enablement

  • Act as a senior domain advisor to client business leaders.
  • Support pursuits through problem framing, solution storytelling, executive workshops and value articulation
  • Establish and maintain personal billability through advisory, solution leadership, or delivery roles.
  • Help improve win rates by bringing credibility, relevance, and business fluency to client conversations.

4. Business Storytelling & Executive Narratives

  • Craft compelling business-oriented narratives that connect data, AI, and outcomes.
  • Translate complex analytics and AI constructs into clear executive stories focused on impact, trade-offs, and decisions.
  • Influence internal and external stakeholders through clarity—not jargon.

5. Thought Leadership & Capability Building

  • Establish self as a recognized thought leader in pharma Data & AI applications.
  • Contribute to original points of view, whitepapers, solution accelerators, internal playbooks
  • Actively uplift the domain understanding of the broader Data & AI organization through mentoring, reviews, and structured enablement.

6. Collaboration & Operating Model Leadership

  • Lead and influence lean, cross-functional teams drawn from multiple CoEs.
  • Operate comfortably in ambiguity while maintaining delivery discipline.

Experience & Profile

  • 15+ years of pharma industry experience, with depth in one or more core functional areas.
  • Strong understanding of pharma data ecosystems, including but not limited to:
    • Claims, prescription, patient services, CRM, digital, field activity, medical engagement, and operational data.
  • Demonstrated experience working at the intersection of business, data, and analytics / AI.
  • Prior experience in consulting, solution roles, or product-led organizations strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable being both strategic and hands-on—this is not a “review-only” leadership role.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders without relying on authority.

What Success Looks Like

  • Horizontal Data & AI capabilities become clearly differentiated business solutions.
  • Client conversations shift from “interesting analytics” to measurable business outcomes.
  • The Data & AI team demonstrates stronger business orientation and domain fluency.
  • The role holder is billable, credible, and sought after by clients and internal teams alike.

Final, candid note

This role is for someone who enjoys connecting dots, not protecting silos. If you prefer clean swim lanes, this will feel uncomfortable. If you enjoy shaping the “why” while rolling up your sleeves on the “how,” this role will feel like home.
