Job Description
We are seeking a pharmacist to join our pharmacy practice dedicated to supporting clients primarily based in a hospital setting with a strong focus on behavioral health. This is a closed door, non-retail setting where accuracy, clinical judgment, and communication are essential. You'll work closely with healthcare teams managing patients with acute and chronic behavioral health needs.
Location: Hawaii State Hospital - Kaneohe, HI
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Core Responsibilities
- Verify medication orders for safety and accuracy, checking dose, interactions, and appropriateness before dispensing.
- Support pharmacy operations by ensuring safe medication preparation and dispensing in accordance with protocols while working closely with technicians to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Communicate with prescribers and nursing staff to clarify orders and offer medication recommendations when needed.
- Review patient information, including labs and key clinical details, to support safe medication use.
- Keep track of required lab monitoring for medications that need additional follow‑
- Serve as a point of contact for questions about medication use, safety considerations, and administration.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal and state pharmacy regulations.
- Participate in medication incident reporting and follow-up processes.
- Provide medication-related education and training to hospital staff.
- Assist with additional pharmacist duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree; PharmD preferred
- Active pharmacist license in Hawaii
- Experience in hospital or behavioral health practice strongly preferred
- Solid knowledge of medication safety standards, regulatory requirements, and psychopharmacology principles
- Competence with EHR systems and pharmacy computer software
- Strong clinical reasoning and clear, effective communication skills

- Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, stir, walk, and stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
