• Job Title: Pharmacy Technician (Contract-to-Hire) • Location: Warwick, RI • Pay Rate: $24.45 per hour • Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: This position includes a rotating schedule consisting of:
- Two weekday evening shifts: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM
- Two weekday day shifts: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- One weekend morning shift
Note: Candidates who prefer to work only evening shifts (1:30 PM – 10:00 PM) may also be considered. (Evening shift includes $1.00 shift differential)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join a fast-paced pharmacy team in Warwick, RI . This role works under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist to support prescription preparation, medication packaging, and pharmacy operations while ensuring accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a collaborative healthcare environment where accuracy and efficiency are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist to fill prescriptions and assist in preparing IV medications.
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy systems in coordination with the Billing Supervisor to process claims and obtain reimbursement.
- Assist with prepackaging medications for dispensing in accordance with pharmacy standards and government regulations.
- Support pharmacists in the final verification process by staging and presenting filled prescriptions for review.
- Package medications after pharmacist approval and coordinate accurate and timely delivery to customers.
- Assist with pharmacy inventory management, including receiving medications and supplies, rotating stock, documenting lot numbers, and tracking expiration dates.
- Participate in physical inventory counts and maintain organized inventory records.
- Maintain a clean and safe pharmacy work environment.
- Assist with equipment checks to ensure proper calibration, safety, and cleanliness.
- Follow all pharmacy procedures, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Active Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician License (Required)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer/data entry skills
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous pharmacy, healthcare, or medication handling experience
- Experience with prescription processing or pharmacy management systems
