Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician performs pharmacy-related functions, in compliance with department policies and procedures that provide optimal pharmaceutical care.

Compensation:
- CPhT - $25.25/hr + DOE
- PRN Differentials
- Shift Differentials
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Rotate through all work areas of the pharmacy
- Prepare medications and supplies for dispensing, including:
- Repackaging bulk medications
- Sterile IV compounding including chemotherapeutic agents
- Non-sterile compounding
- Prepare prescriptions for outpatients
- Operate Automated Dispensing Cabinet – stocking, auditing, troubleshooting, reporting, manage outdates
- Deliver and maintain medication inventory in nursing units and clinic locations
- Maintain and audit controlled substance inventory
- Maintain medication and supply inventory in the pharmacy
- Support medication bar code system
- Assist in training new employees
- Assist other pharmacy technicians
- Coordinate insurance billing including third party prescriptions
- Triage telephone/window inquiries.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment.
- Displays professional attributes including but not limited to, punctuality, professional demeanor and presentation; cooperation with peers, other healthcare workers and patients.
- Actively participates in Performance Improvement.
- Accepts accountability for own actions.
- Support of 340b program operations and compliance
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Floats to other departments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent degree.
- Valid state pharmacy technician in training certificate for State of Montana.
- Must obtain pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of hire.
- Ability to treat all information as confidential.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in hospital pharmacy, not required
- National certification required.
- Valid state pharmacy technician registration (required in some states).
