Job Summary
This role will assist with preparing daily work reports, conduct safety and quality assurance audits and participate in inventory management and control. Monitors the overall performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies, practices and approved pharmaceutical processes. This role may work in the following business areas: Quality and Compliance, Inventory Management, Medication Management and enterprise Pharmacy Operations. Serves as an integral member of Mass General's interdisciplinary Excellence Everyday Team, responsible for auditing medication storage sites (inpatient, ambulatory, and procedural) in accordance with established standards, procedures, and policies set by local, state, and federal regulating bodies. In addition, the role includes overseeing and participating in automated dispensing cabinet optimization, medication repackaging, and triaging system issues related to Electronic healthcare system and pharmacy specific hardware and software. Does this position require Patient Care? NoEssential Functions-Perform risk assessments of medication-related matters, and provide pharmacy-related knowledge and support to clinicians and appropriate. -Makes recommendations to the managers regarding any changes to improve operating procedures, or to improve and facilitate safe medication practices. -Assist managers and supervisors on plans after audit results, identifying opportunities for process improvement efforts, facility changes, or additional employee education. -Work close with vendors to conduct monthly onsite monitoring, biannual room and equipment certification, review invoices for appropriate services, and address inconsistencies. -Audit medication storage areas utilizing data collection tools, participation on inter-disciplinary tracers and surveillance rounds, as well as briefing area leadership with opportunities for improvement in accordance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and state and federal regulationsQualifications

Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician [CSPT] - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferredExperiencePharmacy Technician experience 3-5 years requiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities- Attention to detail.- Proficient with standard PC software: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.- Effective computer and keyboarding skills.- Advanced working knowledge of pharmacy information and inventory systems.- Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices.- Ability to manage several priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
