Pharmacy Technician Or Pharmacy Clerk-To-Technician (Part-Time)

This position may be filled by a Certified Pharmacy Technician or by a Pharmacy Clerk who is willing to complete the required training and certification to become a Pharmacy Technician.

Pharmacy Clerk Responsibilities

A pharmacy clerk supports the daily operations of the retail pharmacy by assisting customers with their prescription pick-ups and deliveries while providing great customer service. Responsibilities include handling processing point-of-sale transactions, maintaining accurate records, and performing general clerical duties. 

This position is designed as a training pathway, with the expectation that the employee will complete required education and transition into a Pharmacy Technician role.

Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities

Performs advanced duties under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Additional responsibilities include the preparation and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and pharmacy standards.  

Training Program Requirement (Clerk-to-Technician Pathway)

• Apply for Pharmacy Technician Registration with the MN Board of Pharmacy within 60 days of hire
• Complete online coursework through an accredited college or training provider
• Complete on-the-job training within the EBCH pharmacy under pharmacist supervision
• Fulfilled required clinical or experiential training hours
• Complete the technician training program within 12 months of registration

Ongoing Requirements for Certified Pharmacy Technicians

• Maintain an active Pharmacy Technician License with the State of MN
• Renew registration annually as required by the MN Board of Pharmacy
• Obtain and maintain certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
• Must obtain PTCB certification within 6 months of initial registration 
• Certification must be renewed every two years

Wage

• $16.21 - $25.31 per hour

Schedule

• Part-time, 48-60 hours every 2 weeks

Training Cost Reimbursement

EBCH offers reimbursement for approved educational expenses upon completion of a signed employment commitment agreement.

Training program requirement applies only to candidate hired into the Clerk-to-Technician pathway.
