Job Description Summary:

Serves as the direct supervisor of pharmacy technicians and select support staff. Ensures appropriate staffing, training, education, and operational needs of assigned department or unit. Manages, fills, or covers holes and call-offs during weekday scheduled shifts and during on-call responsibilities during off hours.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the hiring manager for new technicians and select support staff, including coordination of orientation and onboarding of new team members.
  • Conducts 90-day, annual performance reviews, and goal setting for assigned direct reports.
  • Creates and reviews the technician schedule.
  • Organizes and leads team meetings with direct reports.
  • Assists to develop and maintain standards of care, along with policies and procedures in conjunction with Pharmacy Administration.
  • Assists with compliance of all regulatory standards, including USP , and compliance.
  • Participates in formal and informal educational programs, such as classes, in-services, continuing education, and other major educational programs, to meet staff and organizational needs. Participates pharmacy department committees as deemed appropriate by Pharmacy Administration.

Education Requirement:

  • As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

Registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (Registered or Certified Pharmacy Technician), required.

Certifications:

Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (PTCB, ExCPT), required.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills in pharmacy work environment.
  • Must demonstrate ongoing Inpatient Pharmacy Tech I competencies, knowledge, and skills.

Experience:

Three years’ experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting or outpatient setting, required.

Physical Requirements:

OCCASIONALLY: Climb stairs/ladder, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Driving motor vehicles (work required) *additional testing may be required, Fume /Gases /Vapors, Lifting / Carrying: 21-40 lbs, Squat/kneel

FREQUENTLY: Bend/twist, Biohazard waste, Computer skills, Flexing/extending of neck, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 26-40 lbs, Reaching above shoulder, Standing, Walking

CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Chemicals/Medications, Decision Making, Depth perception, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Hearing acuity, Interpreting Data, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Peripheral vision, Problem solving, Repetitive hand/arm use, Seeing – Far/near, Sitting
