Location: Danbury, CTDuration: 2+ Months (Possibility of Extension)Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PMPay Rate: $17 - $21 per hour on W2
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Phlebotomist I to join our healthcare team in Danbury, CT. The Phlebotomist will serve as the face of the organization by providing exceptional patient care and ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing. This role requires strong phlebotomy expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures and quality standards.
- Accurately label, store, and transport specimens to ensure integrity and compliance.
- Explain collection procedures to patients and create a comfortable, professional environment.
- Maintain required documentation, records, and patient information with a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Support process excellence initiatives and demonstrate organizational leadership behaviors.
- Promote a positive image of the organization through exceptional customer service.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
- Strong blood collection skills and specimen handling knowledge.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to provide accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience.
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training.
- Phlebotomy Certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
- Previous customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment.
Additional Requirements
- Experience drawing blood from pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed based on business requirements.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and patient confidentiality at all times.
