We advocate for our communities and strive to dismantle barriers within and beyond our school walls. Responsibilities & DutiesDeliver Engaging Instruction:Plan and teach daily physical education lessons aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum.Use a variety of instructional strategies to promote physical activity, coordination, sportsmanship, and teamwork.Foster students' enjoyment of movement, exercise, and lifelong fitness through age-appropriate activities.Support Student Growth and Achievement:Assess and monitor student progress in physical fitness, motor skills, and collaborative behaviors.Differentiate instruction to meet the physical and developmental needs of all learners, including students with disabilities or requiring additional challenges.Celebrate student growth and promote perseverance, resilience, and healthy habits.Create a Positive Classroom Culture:Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured environment in physical education settings that reflect the school's core values.Use proactive and effective classroom management strategies to ensure respectful and engaged participation.Model a growth mindset and promote self-confidence, teamwork, and mutual respect.Collaborate and Communicate:Work closely with colleagues, families, and support staff to support the physical and emotional well-being of every student.Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school events to strengthen school culture.Communicate regularly with families about student progress, health, and physical development.Additional Responsibilities:Supervise students during lunch, recess, and transitions as needed.Participate in school-wide initiatives, events, and service-learning projects.Perform other duties as assigned to support the school's mission. Education & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Health, Kinesiology, or a related field required; Master's Degree preferred.Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Health and Physical Education (or eligibility for certification) preferred.At least one year of teaching experience preferred, with demonstrated success in student engagement and physical instruction.Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and best practices in physical education.  Title: K-6 Physical Education TeacherLocation: Philadelphia, PA 19134Job Type: Full-Time
