Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Physical Therapist (PT) to evaluate and treat patients with physical and developmental disorders across various care settings, including inpatient, outpatient, long-term care, community-based care, and home health. The PT will develop individualized treatment plans, improve patient mobility and function, support rehabilitation goals, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Candidates must be flexible to float between departments and local facilities within a 20-mile radius.
Work Environment:
- Ability to float between departments and nearby locations within 20 miles as required.
- Settings may include inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, long-term care, community-based care, and home health.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations to assess physical abilities, functional limitations, and developmental disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans based on patient needs and rehabilitation goals.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, strength, endurance, balance, coordination, range of motion, and overall physical function.
- Monitor patient progress, modify treatment plans as necessary, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, home exercise programs, and strategies to maximize independence.
- Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to achieve patient-centered outcomes.
- Assist with discharge planning and ensure patients have appropriate resources for continued recovery.
- Advocate for patient needs and promote safety and quality of care.
- Utilize electronic medical record systems, including Epic, for documentation when applicable.
- Maintain compliance with all facility, state, and federal regulations.
Pediatric Physical Therapy Responsibilities (if applicable):
- Evaluate and treat infants, children, and adolescents with developmental, neurological, orthopedic, and other movement-related disorders.
- Assess and improve motor development, gait, strength, coordination, balance, endurance, and range of motion.
- Work collaboratively with families and caregivers to establish therapy goals and promote developmental progress.
- Provide treatment for pediatric patients from birth through 18 years of age.
- Float to adult units when pediatric census fluctuates and assist with adult patient care as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy.
- Current New Mexico Physical Therapist License.
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience in the applicable physical therapy specialty.
- Experience in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings.
- Minimum one (1) year of pediatric physical therapy experience for Pediatric PT assignments.
- At least one completed 13-week travel assignment.
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), American Health and Safety, or approved provider.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and flexible healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT).
- Experience with Epic EMR (preferred but training can be provided).
