Job Summary:
Provides clinical patient care by initiating and administering appropriate treatment, progressing patient treatment as necessary, and managing a patient load that reflects productivity standards. Evaluates patients accurately, plans appropriate treatment, sets and meets functional goals, and revises and progresses treatment programs as goals are met. Provides instruction to patients, family members, and other healthcare providers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Initiate and administer appropriate treatment, progress patient treatment as needed, and manage patient load to meet productivity standards.
- Evaluate patients accurately and plan appropriate treatment.
- Set and meet functional goals, revising and progressing treatment programs as goals are achieved.
- Maintain appropriate treatment records and complete accurate daily patient charges.
- Complete patient records in a timely manner, ensuring charges accurately reflect time spent, procedures performed, and equipment used.
- Maintain technical expertise through continuing education activities and departmental in-services.
- Attend the majority of scheduled in-services and departmental meetings.
- Provide instruction to patients, family members, and other healthcare providers, following care path guidelines for education and documentation of home programs.
- Follow set guidelines for daily operations and assist lead therapists with daily responsibilities.
- Schedule and prioritize daily work assignments, delegating tasks to support personnel as appropriate.
- Assist with training of new employees and support observers, volunteers, and students as requested.
- Carry out non-routine procedures under changing conditions, coordinating activities of others without supervising.
- Work directly with patients, internal, and external customers, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Zero to six months of related experience.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and families.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Basic computer knowledge for data input and reporting.
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Effective reasoning ability and adaptability.
Required Education:
- Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- Valid State Licensure or Temporary Letter of Authorization to practice Physical Therapy.
- BLS certification.
Shift: 6 months to 1 year of experience, Outpatient experience
