Job Summary:
Provides clinical patient care by initiating and administering appropriate treatment, progressing patient treatment as appropriate, and carrying a patient load that reflects productivity standards. Evaluates patients accurately, plans appropriate treatment, sets and meets functional goals, and revises and progresses treatment programs as goals are met. Provides instruction and education to patients, family members, and other healthcare providers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Initiate and administer appropriate treatment, progress patient treatment as necessary, and manage patient load according to productivity standards.
- Accurately evaluate patients and plan appropriate treatment.
- Set and achieve functional goals, revising treatment programs as goals are met.
- Maintain documentation by keeping accurate treatment records and completing daily patient charges promptly.
- Ensure patient charges accurately reflect time spent, procedures performed, and equipment used.
- Maintain technical expertise through continuing education activities and departmental in-services.
- Provide instruction to patients, family members, and other healthcare providers, following care path guidelines for education and documentation of home programs.
- Adhere to guidelines for daily operations and assist supervising therapists with responsibilities as needed.
- Schedule and prioritize daily work assignments, delegating tasks to support personnel when appropriate.
- Assist with training new employees and support observers, volunteers, and students as requested.
- Perform non-routine procedures under changing conditions with general instructions from supervisors.
- Coordinate activities of others, lead similar work efforts, and provide input on performance evaluations.
- Engage with patients, internal and external customers, and other healthcare professionals and staff through various communication methods.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Zero (0) to six (6) months of related experience.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and families.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Basic computer knowledge for data input and reporting.
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Effective reasoning ability and adaptability.
Required Education:
- Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
Required Certification & Licensure:
- Valid State Licensure or Temporary Letter of Authorization to practice Physical Therapy.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
