Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides skilled therapeutic services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA is responsible for educating patients and their families, ensuring patient safety, and delivering care in accordance with established treatment plans. This role requires accurate and timely documentation while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards. The Company adheres to the physical therapy scope of practice as defined by the state for all licensed PTA personnel.

Qualifications & Attributes
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of employment
- Minimum of one (1) year of PTA experience in an acute care setting (required)
- Home health experience preferred
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues
- Knowledge of therapy best practices and clinical judgment
- Ability to assess situations and implement effective solutions
- Detail-oriented with strong observational skills
- Strong work ethic with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance (must be listed as a driver)
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Provide skilled therapy services in patients’ homes based on the Physical Therapist’s plan of care
- Observe, document, and report patient responses, progress, and changes
- Perform prescribed physical therapy procedures and treatments
- Apply therapeutic techniques to relieve pain, restore function, and improve mobility (e.g., exercise, massage, heat, water therapy)
- Assist in assessing functional limitations and implementing interventions to improve patient outcomes
- Communicate effectively with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in case conferences to ensure coordinated patient care
- Recommend, evaluate, and assist with prosthetic/orthotic devices as appropriate
- Educate patients, families, and staff on therapy techniques, safety practices, and equipment use
- Instruct patients and caregivers on the proper use of assistive devices
- Encourage patient independence and reduce reliance on services when appropriate
- Complete all clinical documentation in accordance with agency protocols and regulatory guidelines
- Perform chart audits as requested
- Communicate scheduling changes promptly
- Participate in on-call rotations, trainings, meetings, and onboarding of new staff
Essential Functions
- Travel to patient locations as scheduled
- Maintain consistent attendance for assigned visits
- Complete documentation within required timeframes:
- Routine visits: within 24 hours
- Start of care visits: within 48 hours
- Submit all required documentation per company standards
- Follow the plan of care within PTA scope of practice and state regulations
Note: Per-visit compensation includes all activities related to patient care, including preparation, travel, documentation, coordination, and communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Health Requirements:
- Ability to meet all physical job requirements
- Proof of negative TB test (or chest X-ray) upon hire; annual testing required thereafter
- Must be free from conditions that would limit the ability to perform essential job duties
- Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens
