Acute Care Residency Program - Greater New Orleans

Join Ochsner Health in Greater New Orleans - home to Louisiana’s only acute care residency program, the first of its kind in the state. This residency delivers high‑acuity clinical exposure, 1:1 mentorship, and a proven pathway toward the ABPTS Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Certified Specialist (CCS) and Geriatric Certified Specialist (GCS) credentials while practicing across leading hospitals in the Greater New Orleans region.

About the Role:

Residents advance through a curated acute care curriculum with supervised caseloads spanning ICU, step‑down, med‑surg, cardiopulmonary, transplant, oncology, and geriatric service lines across Greater New Orleans. You will engage in case conferences, simulation labs, journal clubs, and interprofessional rounding designed to build clinical reasoning and exam readiness for CCS and GCS - positioning you to practice at the top of your license in complex inpatient settings. This program pairs structured mentorship with protected learning time to accelerate your growth.

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy degree program; DPT or equivalent.
Current Louisiana PT license (or eligibility prior to start).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
Demonstrated interest in acute/ICU care, cardiopulmonary, and/or geriatrics with intent to pursue CCS/GCS.
