Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are communicated, understood, and followed
- Perform field engineering activities and support resolution of production issues
- Create and distribute Engineering Work Packages
- Assist design engineers in reviewing Basic, Detail, and Production Design drawings
- Assist with creation of Design Change Notices, including drawing preparation or revisions
- Assist with sea trial preparations
- Support subcontractor and material coordination
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned

- Safety Awareness: Demonstrates understanding of shipyard safety requirements and consistently follows established procedures and regulations.
- Engineering Fundamentals: Basic understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and ship construction concepts.
- Attention to Detail: Accurately prepares, reviews, and distributes engineering documentation, work packages, and design changes.
- Problem Solving: Assists with identifying and resolving production or field engineering issues in coordination with engineering and production teams.
- Communication Skills: Communicates clearly with engineers, production personnel, and subcontractors; able to document information effectively.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional teams and supports shared project goals.
- Adaptability & Learning Ability: Adjusts to changing priorities, accepts feedback, and demonstrates eagerness to learn shipyard engineering processes.
- Organization & Time Management: Manages multiple tasks, meets deadlines, and maintains organized engineering records.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors pursuing degrees in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Naval Architecture
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; familiarity with engineering and project software such as Navisworks, AutoCAD, ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and AVEVA preferred
- Exposure to production, construction, or manufacturing environments a plus
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and subcontractors
- S. work authorization required - no sponsorship available
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be executed indoors or outdoors and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is an on-site, full-time, safety-sensitive position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.
