A Planner Scheduler position is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department, Plant Operations Division. This position plans, schedules, and coordinates preventive, proactive, and reactive maintenance work, primarily through the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), for water and wastewater plants and the distribution/collection systems. Facilities and equipment but is not limited to plant process equipment such as chemical feed pumps, sludge collection equipment, aeration equipment, solids digestion and handling includes equipment, SCADA instrumentation/electrical equipment and controls, along with distribution pumps, motors, elevated storage tanks/ground storage reservoirs, and wastewater lift stations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical, Engineering Technology or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in maintenance planning/scheduling using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Must have a Texas Driver's License within six months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Instrumentation/Electrical practices
  • Previous administrative experience with a large municipality
  • One (1) year experience in large scale purchasing environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Purchasing software

The Planner Scheduler job responsibilities include:

  • Screen new work requests to determine scope of work and to verify assignment to appropriate work groups
  • Develop and maintain standard job plans to be used on preventive and routine repair work
  • Analyze and refine material and labor estimates to facilitate efficient maintenance planning
  • Schedule and maintain proactive maintenance tasks in accordance with Preventive/Predictive maintenance program
  • Coordinate with Plant Engineering and Trade Supervisors on extended projects and long-term preventive maintenance strategies
  • Evaluate and provide analysis on current maintenance activities and strategies
  • Coordinate with Purchasing/Warehouse to maintain available repair parts/stock
  • Evaluate and prepare analytical reports on maintenance plans, timelines, cost summaries, status reports, and other related administrative support for appropriate members of the Department's Leadership Team
  • QA/QC work orders to make sure work orders are complete and are ready for closing out
  • Train Maintenance and I/E staff on how to use the CMMS software to complete work orders efficiently
  • Communicate to upper management on work order metric status
  • Communicate to the supervisors on a weekly basis to close out work orders that are completed but still open
  • Conduct field verification of assets and attributes and upload most updated information into the CMMS system

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing and balancing.

Light Work- Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work
