Job Description
DUTIES:
- Assist the Director of Planning in the administration of the Planning Department function according to the requirements of the Borough Home Rule Charter, Borough Code and Alaska Statutes
- Review and recommend Code amendments as needed
- Assist Administration in Planning, Platting and Zoning Authority
- Administer Title 9 Permits
- Provide written and verbal reports to the Mayor, Assembly, Planning Director and Planning Commission on a regular basis and upon request
- Oversees and implements Planning Department services and functions including but not limited to, permit coordination, record keeping, and reviews, village flood map updates, and community outreach and education
- Prepare and submit Comment Letters on projects as needed that impact the Northwest Arctic Borough
- Ability to travel as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- ACollegeDegreeinPlanning, Public Administration,NaturalResources,RuralDevelopment, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or a related field of study appropriate for planning activities with local Experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis
- Assist in seeking funding for Planning Department services
- Technical writing experience
- Be able to consistently interpret Borough Code and State Statutes and adhere to specified regulations
- Possess knowledge of the Borough communities
- Trained in Arc GIS and/or AutoCAD and/or surveying and/or willing to learn
- Have the ability to communicate effectively with residents of the Northwest Arctic Borough
