Job Description
Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak is seeking a Planning Legal Assistant who is organized, compassionate, detail‑oriented, and motivated by meaningful client work. This role is essential to supporting our estate planning and long‑term care planning clients and ensuring that each matter is handled with care, accuracy, and professionalism.The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative legal environment, values integrity and excellence, and takes pride in providing exceptional service to both clients and teammates.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Legal Support
- Assist clients with estate planning and long‑term care planning matters by gathering, organizing, and compiling asset and client information
- Prepare and maintain client information summaries, asset listings, and funded asset lists following trust funding
- Perform trust funding tasks in accordance with firm policies, including updating ownership and beneficiary designations and verifying accuracy
- Attend client appointments and support attorneys during signing meetings
- Serve as a notary during document signing appointments
Research & Documentation
- Conduct records research online and at courthouses, including tax assessments, deeds, and gas leases
- Record legal documents at county courthouses as required
- Prepare, proofread, and manage correspondence and legal documents
Administrative & Operational Support
- Maintain and organize hard‑copy and electronic files
- Schedule client appointments and consultations while delivering outstanding customer service
- Manage calendars for attorneys and staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Answer phones, route calls appropriately, and assist walk‑in clients
- Perform general office tasks including scanning, mailing, filing, and data management
Professional Standards
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm information
- Follow firm procedures to ensure work is completed accurately and thoroughly
- Support team members and attorneys with additional tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office technology
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
- Professional demeanor with a strong customer‑service mindset
Notary Requirement
- Active Notary Public license in Pennsylvania OR willingness to obtain notary licensure upon hire (firm support provided)
Work Environment & Schedule
- Professional, in‑office legal environment
- Standard office equipment including computers, phones, scanners, and filing systems
- Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (one‑hour unpaid lunch)
- This position is not eligible for remote work
