Description

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and day-to-day operation of the Sioux Falls manufacturing facility. This role provides leadership across manufacturing, safety, quality, materials, maintenance, and continuous improvement to ensure the site consistently delivers outstanding service to customers while meeting business objectives.

The Plant Manager is accountable for creating a safe, engaged, and high-performing work environment where employees are empowered to continuously improve processes, solve problems, and deliver operational excellence. Working closely with corporate functional leaders and other manufacturing sites, this position develops and executes site strategies that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, inventory performance, and cost while supporting future business growth.

As the senior leader for the facility, the Plant Manager serves as a visible champion of DwyerOmega's values, develops talent, builds strong cross-functional partnerships, and fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide overall leadership and management for all manufacturing operations at the Sioux Falls facility.
  • Foster a culture where safety is the highest priority by ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and proactive safety initiatives.
  • Lead and develop team members through coaching, performance management, recognition, and employee development.
  • Drive operational excellence by achieving performance targets for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, inventory, and cost.
  • Establish clear operational priorities and ensure production schedules are executed efficiently while meeting customer commitments.
  • Monitor plant performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to improve results.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste, improve processes, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Customer Service, Human Resources, and Finance to resolve operational challenges and support business objectives.
  • Lead workforce planning activities including staffing, scheduling, training, and succession planning to ensure the organization has the capability to meet current and future business needs.
  • Develop and manage the plant operating budget, including labor, overtime, inventory, capital expenditures, and operating expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Support new product introductions, process improvements, and capital investment projects.
  • Promote employee engagement through regular communication, visibility on the production floor, and recognition of team accomplishments.
  • Identify operational risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize business disruption.
  • Share best practices and collaborate with leaders across other DwyerOmega manufacturing locations to improve enterprise performance.

Requirements

Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Business, or a related discipline required. Equivalent manufacturing leadership experience may be considered.

Experience Required:

  • 7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
  • 3+ years leading a manufacturing operation or major functional area.
  • Experience in a low-volume/high-mix manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Manufacturing certification and/or Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
  • ISO 9001 manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supporting capital improvement projects and facility expansions.
  • Experience in instrumentation, industrial manufacturing, or engineered products is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles; Six Sigma certification or experience is preferred.

Financial Acumen

  • Experience managing plant budgets and controlling operating expenses.
  • Understanding of labor productivity, inventory management, and manufacturing cost drivers.

Technical Skills

  • Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and use metrics to drive decision-making.

Communication

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, corporate leadership, customers, and suppliers.
  • Skilled at facilitating problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.

Travel: Domestic travel required at times (10%)
