Job Description

Turner Staffing Group is seeking a skilled and reliable Plant Maintenance Technician to join our team with our client in Hinkley, CA! The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs on fixed quarry plant equipment and machinery to ensure the efficient operation of the plant. This role requires a hands-on individual who is committed to minimizing downtime and maintaining a high standard of production quality.

The ideal candidate has rock plant experience, knowledge of safe operation procedures, understands quarrying practices, and is skilled in performing routine maintenance on equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to MSHA safety guidelines and company policies to ensure a safe and compliant work environment, prioritizing safety at all times.
  • Perform daily inspections of plant crushing equipment, screening machinery, and conveyors to assess for wear and tear, documenting any parts or systems that require repair or servicing.
  • Continuously monitor plant equipment and systems to maintain an uninterrupted flow of materials. Take immediate corrective actions to clear any blockages and ensure smooth, continuous operations that meet production standards
  • Support plant maintenance management through comprehensive and accurate records, including daily maintenance logs, parts inventory, repair schedules, and service reports to ensure efficient operations.
  • Respond swiftly to mechanical breakdowns or failures to minimize downtime, ensuring quick restoration of plant operations and consistent productivity.
  • Plan and execute routine preventive maintenance tasks to reduce equipment breakdowns and extend the lifespan of plant machinery. Oversee greasing, lubrication, and minor repairs to keep all plant equipment running efficiently.
  • Receive and complete tasks from Plant Maintenance Lead effectively with other mechanics and plant personnel to troubleshoot mechanical issues, share insights, and implement corrective actions that optimize plant performance.
  • Help with the installation of new machinery or modifications to the existing plant setup when needed.

“Fit for Duty” Requirements:

  • Medical Fitness: Applicants to whom the Company makes an offer must pass a “Fitness for Duty” examination. The FFD examination may include a physical examination, drug/alcohol screening, and respiratory function testing.
  • Essential Functions: Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, which include, but are not limited to: lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and stooping.
  • Failure to pass the “Fitness for Duty” examination and /or to demonstrate the ability to safely perform essential functions, may result in the Company withdrawing an offer of employment. 

Qualification & Experience

  • 1+ year of rock quarry experience required.
  • Proven experience as a Quarry Plant Maintenance Technician or similar role in the maintenance of rock plant machinery.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in quarry operations.
  • Skilled in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing quarry equipment such as crushers, conveyors, and screens.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to perform manual labor and operate heavy machinery as needed.
  • MSHA certification is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and perform work on a computer
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
