Manufacturing Plant Superintendent
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire (FTE)Work Schedule: Day Shift (7:00 AM–5:00 PM); flexibility requiredWork Environment: Fully OnsiteSalary Range: $85,000–$100,000 annually (base salary)
Position Overview
The Plant Superintendent is responsible for leading floor production operations and coordinating daily manufacturing activities to ensure efficiency, quality, safety, and on-time delivery. This role provides direct leadership to Production Supervisors and Team Leaders and supports continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Production Supervisors and Team Leaders overseeing hourly production employees
- Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned production areas
- Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations
- Train, coach, and develop production leadership and hourly staff
- Plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; recognize achievements; address corrective actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production, quality, and operational issues
- Drive teamwork, accountability, and performance across all shifts
- Manage production operations to meet plant goals including:
- Efficiency and productivity
- On-time delivery
- Zero defects and scrap reduction
- Safety performance and downtime reduction
- 5S and continuous improvement standards
- Achieve daily production and WIP inventory targets based on the production control plan
- Implement and monitor best-in-class manufacturing practices
- Communicate weekly production requirements and operational updates to staff
- Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, labor, and sustainability policies
- Promote and participate in safety, health, and sustainability initiatives and training programs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of related manufacturing leadership experience
- Working knowledge of floor production leadership and employee supervision
- Basic computer proficiency (ERP/MRP systems a plus)
- Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing environments
- Automotive manufacturing experience
