Selectek has partnered with a major manufacturing company to find a highly experienced Plant Superintendent to lead and support the Plant. This is a direct hire opportunity offering competitive compensation. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Plant Superintendent is responsible for ensuring safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, cost performance, employee training, and relations within a high-performance work team environment, as well as overseeing capital improvements and budget preparation in a 24/7 plastics manufacturing facility. This job demands monitoring production performance and implementing processes, procedures, and methods to improve results in all key functional areas. The position is responsible for implementing and maintaining best manufacturing practices and regulatory compliance for all production activities.What you'll be doing:
  • Ensure the safety of all employees by leading a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries. Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Develop subordinates through education, training, and teamwork.
  • Is responsible for motivation, support, and guidance to all employees
  • Communicate problems and obstacles to the plant manager and the leadership team. Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising safety, product safety, or integrity
  • Create schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual plant operating budget. Meet or exceed plant productivity, cost, or other performance metric expectations as outlined by the plant manager.
  • Assist in employee relations issues.
  • Hire, train, direct, and mentor staff and all plant employees with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. 
  • Lead plan in continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S with safety, Six Sigma, Kaizen events, and lean manufacturing.
  • Coordinate production scheduling to meet customer demands, to manage overtime, to minimize inventory, and to reduce costs.
  • Support quality initiatives to ensure the product meets or exceeds customer expectations. Ensure employees complete required quality checks and audits.
  • Build and maintain productive employee relationships to drive employee satisfaction. Provide direction, training, and development as needed. Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed. Recommend disciplinary action to the plant manager and review the disciplinary actions taken by supervisors for effectiveness and consistency. Work with HR to address employee concerns and issues.
  • Identify, propose, and implement capital projects to improve operational performance.
Requirements
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher. Engineering and/or plastics major with experience preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent
  • Proven track record of successful leadership positions
  • You can demonstrate a history of a strong work ethic
  • Comfortable in public speaking and training large groups of coworkers.
  • Must have above-average communication skills (written & verbal in English)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to include creating charts, graphs, SOPs, One Point Lessons, and presentations
  • Must have a high level of integrity, trust, and ethical standards
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime and flexible schedule as needed to support all shifts.
