Senior HPC Server Platform Consultant

Key Details

  • Employment Type: W2 (not open to C2C, 1099, or visa sponsorship)

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior HPC Server Platform Consultant to provide onsite technical leadership and operational support for a high-performance computing environment. This role will support compute systems, cluster management, storage infrastructure, cooling systems, hardware diagnostics, and ongoing platform stability. The consultant will also coordinate technical projects, facilitate operational meetings, and serve as a trusted advisor to technical teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite technical support for high-performance computing systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • Administer and provide operational support for HPC cluster management platforms.
  • Support enterprise storage environments, including system monitoring, upgrade coordination, and health assessments.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot cooling distribution unit systems supporting the computing environment.
  • Perform hardware diagnostics and coordinate remediation activities to maintain system availability and stability.
  • Partner with onsite administrators and technical teams to resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Facilitate weekly operational meetings and coordinate technical projects, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership in the design and delivery of infrastructure solutions.
  • Analyze complex technical issues and recommend effective solutions based on business and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Contribute to process improvements, technical strategies, operating procedures, and infrastructure standards.
  • Maintain current knowledge of server, virtualization, storage, automation, and data center technologies.
  • Support technical proposal development and identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction and service delivery.
  • Perform additional technical and project coordination responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field and at least 8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Candidates without a degree must have at least 11 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Advanced experience supporting enterprise server platforms or high-performance computing environments.
  • Experience administering HPC cluster management systems.
  • Experience supporting enterprise storage infrastructure and coordinating system upgrades.
  • Strong hardware diagnostic, troubleshooting, and system stability management skills.
  • Experience maintaining or troubleshooting data center cooling infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least three major technology areas.
  • Advanced understanding of infrastructure operations, technical support, and project delivery.
  • Ability to independently analyze complex issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Strong technical leadership, customer relationship management, and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating projects and facilitating operational meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting SGI 8600 or similar high-performance computing systems.
  • Experience with HPCM cluster management technologies.
  • Experience supporting DMF storage environments.
  • Knowledge of cooling distribution unit systems.
  • Experience with Integrated Lights-Out technology.
  • Knowledge of VMware vCenter, VMotion, and vSphere.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation and orchestration solutions.
  • Familiarity with Emerson Aperture or comparable data center infrastructure management platforms.
