Your Role
Every episode of Unlearned Wisdom is a conversation that could change someone’s life. Someone going through addiction, anxiety, depression, or spiritual confusion hits play, and for the next hour they hear a message that meets them exactly where they are. You are the person who makes sure that experience is so compelling they can’t look away, so polished they trust it, and so well-paced they stay until the final word.
You own the entire long-form post-production process for 1-2 podcast episodes per week, from raw multi-cam recordings to final publish-ready video on YouTube. You are not a task-doer waiting for instructions. You are the creative lead for how these episodes look, sound, and feel. You report to the Head of Content and collaborate closely with the team, but you run your edit bay like it’s your business.
What You’ll Own
Edit 1 video episode per week from multi-cam assembly through final delivery (story editing, color grading, sound mixing, B-roll, motion graphics)
Edit 1 audio-only episode per week (assembly, sound mixing, mastering, and final delivery)
Build and refine the visual storytelling language of every episode: identify the most powerful moments, structure the edit for emotional impact, and maximize audience retention
Design and iterate on brand insertions for internal initiatives and external partners
Review YouTube Studio retention graphs for every episode you cut and bring data-backed insights to your next edit
Organize all project files, raw footage, and assets in ClickUp and Google Drive so handoffs and archiving are seamless
Proactively pitch at least 1 new editing technique, graphic style, or creative experiment per month
What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)Objective 1: Master the workflow
Deliver first-draft edits within 72 hours of receiving footage and final revisions within 24 hours of feedback, starting after a 2-week ramp-up
Hit 100% on-time delivery for all assigned episodes by Day 30
Objective 2: Move the needle on performance
Baseline average view duration (AVD) in Week 1. Target a 15% increase in AVD on new episodes by Day 90. Exceptional: 25%+
Objective 3: Own the creative direction
Execute 1 new creative experiment (intro hook, graphic style, B-roll approach) that measurably improves an episode’s performance
Iterate and improve brand insertions for both internal and partner placements
This Role Is NOT For You If:
You have never edited long-form podcast episodes that performed well on YouTube. Adjacent video experience (wedding, corporate, music videos) does not qualify. Do not apply.
You edit to a timeline, not to a retention curve. If you’ve never studied a YouTube retention graph and changed your edit because of what you saw, this isn’t the role.
You wait for creative direction instead of bringing it. We need someone who shows up with ideas, not someone who asks “what do you want me to do?”
You treat audio as an afterthought. If your mixes have hiss, uneven levels, or audible cuts, you’re not ready.
You need daily check-ins to stay on track. This is a remote role with firm deadlines and no hand-holding.
Non-Negotiable Requirements
4+ years editing long-form video content specifically for podcasts on YouTube
Must provide a portfolio of podcast episodes you edited with verifiable view counts and retention data. Applications without proof of past work will not be reviewed.
Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition (or equivalent audio tools) to broadcast-quality standards
Deep understanding of YouTube packaging, retention mechanics, and audience growth
Proficiency with ClickUp (or similar PM tools) and Google Drive
Strong written communication. Your application is your first audition.
Compensation
$500 per video episode, $150 per audio-only episode. Volume: 1 video episode and 1 audio episode per week.
Two-month trial period at per-episode rates (8 video episodes and 8 audio episodes total). After the trial, if we decide to move forward, we can negotiate a monthly retainer based on performance and fit.
How to Apply
