Title: Podiatrist Department: Primary Care Reports To: Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing/Operating Officer Location: Bronx Position Status: Part-Time FLSA Status: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY In collaboration with the entire medical staff, the Podiatrist will provide primary podiatric care to outpatient clients. He/she will be instrumental in providing health education, prevention, and early detection; under the guidance of the Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing/Operating Officer. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Diagnose disorders of the feet and ankles such as bunions, calluses, corns, fungal infection of the skin or nails, ankle pronation, gait abnormalities, heel spurs, arch deformities and ingrown toenails · Diabetic foot care such as nail trims, callus removal, peripheral neuropathy testing, skin ulcer treatment and amputation. · Make foot casts for custom orthotics · Prescribe corrective shoes and braces to treat gait and balance issues · Consult with patients about preventative foot care · Refer patients to other medical specialists if symptoms suggest severe illnesses such as diabetes, heart or kidney disease The above is intended to describe the essential job functions, the general supplemental functions and the essential requirements for the performance of the job. It is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of all the job functions EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: · Previous experience with an electronic health record, preferred · Experience in Primary Care and clinical management of persons with HIV/AIDS and experience in harm reduction principles is preferred · Visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with the computer and perform medical procedures as indicated · Auditory acuity to handle phone calls and interact extensively with patients · Knowledge of HIPAA compliance · Maintains current DEA registration · Maintains current CPR certification · Maintains CMEs/CEUs required for licensure · Maintains current Infection Control certification |
